Unit 28 Task 1 P1, M1, D1

P1; Web Architecture

Client - The client is the device which wants to access the internet. For example a laptop, tablet, mobile phone or desktop. This will have a unique IP address which is usually 13 digits long and helps direct the web page to the device when you have searched for it.

HUB - This is the homehub or router provided by the ISP which you have paid for.

ISP -  An internet service provider (ISP) is a company or organization that provides internet access and other related services. ISP companies include BT, Sky and Virgin Media. The different type of ISP’s include mailbox, hosting, transit, free and access to the internet.

Web Hosting Services - A web hosting service is a type of internet hosting service that allows users of the companies and organizations to make their websites accessible via the world wide
web.

Domain Registrar -  This is an organisation which provides a domain registration service to an individual or company that wants access or to own a specific web address. An example of this is Google and YAHOO! This will also have a specific IP address which will direct the web page back to the client.

World Wide Web - This is a system that is used worldwide and consists of interconnected computer networks and internet servers which support certain specially formatted documents. These are directed back to the client using the unique IP address.

Components;
Hardware -  These are the physical machinery and device used to make up the computer system. This includes wires, tablets and desktops.

Router - This is a device which is connected to the landline and transfers packets of data along networks. The router uses information from an incoming data packet and then determines where the data packet will go to next. This could result in the web page appearing on the screen of the device which you are using.

Software -
This is the computer programs used inside the device.Software can be installed or downloaded to the device which you are using. For example when you install google chrome, you can then access the internet.

M1
Web 2.0 -  This is the second generation of the world wide web which allows users to come together and share web pages. Web 2.0 is characterised by the visible change from static web pages to web pages that are specific to the user. An example of this is social media.

Blogs - Blogs are a web page that an author has set up themselves that can be updated whenever they want. Blogs are usually an online journal which can be read by the public if the author allows consent to do this. Blogs are based upon the author's personality and interests.

Online Application - This is a program that runs in a web browser and is created  in a browser-supported programming language which relies on a web browser to the application.
Some online applications include flash games, calendars and calculators.

Cloud Computing - This is a way of storing and accessing data over the internet instead of storing it on the hard drive of a computer. An example of this is iCloud and Google Drive which allow you to access documents and files which you have saved online.

D1
TCP/IP - The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) has two layers, the first is the section that handles all of the data that is being sent to other computers. The TCP/IP is pre-loaded onto any other device which you purchase that has pre-installed internet e.g ChromeBook. The main role f the TCP is to compact all of the data being processed into smaller packets which are then sent to the required destination.
To determine the destination, the main packets will be sent to the second layer of the protocol (IP) is used to obtain the web page address which the data is being sent to. The protocol adds the address to the packet, this section is read and handled with first before moving the packet. This is because it can identify the IP address which the packet will be sent to.

HTTP - This stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol and the purpose is to distribute hypertext across the internet.

HTTPS - This stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure and does the exact same as HTTP but is just more secure. HTTPS are used when using online banking and  exchanging sensitive data.

SMPT -  This stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and is the internet standard for electronic mail transmission. This allows users to send electronic mail between two computers or devices. For example Gmail.

Unit 1 Task 5 D1

Verbal communication
Throughout the year, I have used verbal communication for example when I have asked for feedback on my work or asked how to do a task. This helped me understand tasks in depth. Verbal communication is effective as when spoken to, you remember how to improve and complete work. The only disadvantages of verbal communication are that you could misinterpret something and not remember what they have said which would make it difficult for you to complete a task.

Teaching Broadcasting Demonstration
Within this year I have watched many demonstrations to learn how to complete a task. Having things broadcasted to the class has meant that I have been able to watch how to do a task and having it shown and explained has helped drastically. A disadvantage of this is that if people are talking, then it is hard to follow a demonstration so you can be distracted easily.

Using Blogger
Using Blogger has meant that my work has been marked electronically. This has meant that I haven't had to waste time or paper printing my work out and handing it in. It made marking for my teacher easier also as they could just add a comment or leave feedback after each post. A disadvantage of this is that if the internet didn't work then I wouldn't be able to complete my work and could lead to missing deadlines.

Using Gmail
Using Gmail has helped with communicating with my teachers. When I had to send them evidence of my google calendar I was able to send them a link of my google calendar which was easy and quick. The only disadvantage of Gmail is that people can forget to check their emails and my work could take a long time to get marked.

Publishing Images
Throughout the year I have had to publish many images for my work, especially Unit 1. This has been very convenient and easy to show the tasks which I have completed. A disadvantage of publishing images is that when you zoom into an image they can be pixaleted and not as clear as the original image.

Using PowerPoint
Again I have used PowerPoint throughout the year and I have used PowerPoint a lot in unit 1. I have saved the PowerPoints as JPEGs in order to upload them to my blogger. This has helped organise my work clearly and effectively. A disadvantage of PowerPoint is that it can be quite dull and time consuming.

Using Google Calendar
I only used Google Calendar for Unit 1 to plan out the tasks I needed to learn. I found it effective and quite easy to use. It reminded me when to carry out each task which was helpful. A disadvantage of this is that it is online and if you do not have internet access then you cannot open your calendar which could lead to you missing deadlines.

Unit 1, Task 6 M3

There are 3 main types of learning, these are: Auditory, Visual and Kinaesthetic. Within this post I am going to discuss each learning and type and how I have used them throughout the year in IT. Everyone learns in different styles so it depends on how an individual learns to which learning style they use.

Auditory; This is when you listen to something and learn. For example when a teacher explains something to you, you will listen and then be able to carry out a task. Auditory learning is useful because if you read something and do not understand fully, you will be able to understand when someone can explain to you what to do. I find that auditory learning is very useful as it stays in my mind and I can easily remember what to do.

Visual; This is when you associate information with images. Visual learning includes images, diagrams, maps and colours. Throughout the year I have used visual learning to understand each task that I have had to carry out. I find that visual learning can help most people.

Kinaesthetic; This is when you physically learn by doing something. An example of this is watching a video clip/ powerpoint and learning, then carrying out a task by using the information learned from the video clip. By doing this you can see how much information that you have taken in and areas which you need to improve on.

To conclude. I use all three learning styles to learn. I find them all effective and do not have a personal favourite. I think most people learn visually as they can see what is going on and how to carry out a task.

Unit 1 Task 4 M2

Chloe commented on my work and suggested that I used arrows to illustrate my work. I took Chloe's feedback and rearranged my presentation to make my work clear and more understandable. I also used arrows to illustrate my dummies guide.
